Metal Recycling returns to Our Lady of Lourdes

To celebrate Earth Week, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School is offering the community the opportunity to dispose of unwanted metal recycling items. The bin will arrive at the school on the afternoon of April 26th and will be picked up the morning of May 7th. The top to the bin will be open so small items can be put in at anytime. If you have large or heavy items please drop them off during school hours. Please refer to the list your children brought home to see which items qualify. Thank you for participating in this community clean up!
We are also involved in a week long Pitch - In. All of our classes are picking an area of the community to clean up this week and heading out with their Pitch In clear clean up bags and gloves on their hands to help make Elmvale clean, tidy, and BEAUTIFUL! Thank you to all of our staff and students for your great efforts!
Valentines Haiku's in Grade 2 and 3
A haiku poet only has 3 lines to work with so Mrs. O'Riley's class wrote about simple but wonderful things on Valentine's Day.

I like getting treats
I like getting Valentines
This day is for love.
Noah
Roses are yellow
Violets are blue and purple
I love you sunshine.
Deandra

Today we give love.

100s Day Celebration in Grade 1

Grade 1 students in Mrs. Yawny's class celebrated their 100th day of school this week. The 100th day was a teaching and learning opportunity for students to learn how to count and understand concepts and groupings of 10. The Gr. 1 students celebrated by making necklaces with 100 Fruit Loops on them. Many interesting patterns were created and enjoyed.
Creative Madness in Kindergarten!
Ms. Kurtz's Kindergarten classes have been busy printmaking for their Friendtastic February Friends with Lisa Harpell a local artist. They have been creating and printmaking with paint and construction paper.
Friendtastic February!

In February we are celebrating uniqueness, helping our friends, celebrating differences, having book talks on friendship and having special friend guests. Please check out the school calendar and the newsletter. Come and be our friend. Have a Friendtastic February!
Earth Keepers Rock!
Our Earth Keepers have tidied the garden and now had time for a little creativity. The gymnasium was rocking with students, parents, pre-schoolers and the Horticultural Society Group from Elmvale. Tables were set up with paints and and rocks and everyone painted them for the spring gardens.
Celebrating Your Child's Progress
Thank you to all parents, students, and staff who participated in our recent progress report card conferences. We had a fantastic turn out and are always pleased to have this great opportunity to celebrate your child's learning. If you have not yet had the opportunity to meet with your child's teacher, please contact the school to set up an appointment.
